9th Technical Consultancy Conference, under the topic of ‘‘Renovation and Research&Development’’ was held by the ‘‘Association of Turkish Consulting Engineers and Architects (TurkMMMB)’’ in Ankara, Ambasadore Hotel on 26th and 27th of March. The purpose of this conference was to address the latest and the most creative techniques used and the current R&D activities in technical consultancy services in the Turkish Construction Market. Moreover, the meaning of the renovation concept in this sector was also discussed through the current and the on-going projects of Turkish consultancy companies that are members of the TurkMMMB.
During the final session of the conference, the founding partner of Prota Company and the chairman of Prota’s Board of Directors, Josef Kubin gave a presentation under the topic of ‘‘Seismic Isolation Design and Local Implementations on Healthcare Structures’’. In his speech, he summarized the seismic isolation system and the methods used in Erzurum Healthcare Campus, which is one of the biggest hospitals in the world. He also presented the world’s biggest retrofitting project with isolators that has been implemented in the Marmara University Basıbuyuk Training and Research Hospital.
